Sometimes when clubs lose the race for a player, the local press forgets about the subject. Some outlets use the ‘we never wanted him anyway’ method, and soon find something else to talk about.
But Calcio Mercato goes the other way today, complimenting Watford for winning the battle for Serbian youngster Filip Stuparevic.
They make it pretty clear that big clubs like Valencia and Juventus were both interested in the Vozdovac striker, but it was really Watford who were ‘awarded’ with signing him after a €3m bid was accepted.
The outlet claims that Juventus followed the player for a long time, but Watford’s intensity in their recent contacts is what made the Hornets get to a deal. Stuparevic has reportedly signed a contract which runs until 2022.
