While it’s now very well known that Ismaïla Sarr will be leaving Watford to sign for Marseille, the details of the deal have yet to be reported in the English media.
Thankfully, L’Equipe in France have a bit of information on that matter, as the Hornets and the Ligue 1 side were in talks for the Senegal international.
There is history between Watford and Marseille when it comes to Pape Gueye, which the Vicarage Road faithful will remember, but the two clubs managed to put that to one side.
It’s said that the French team ‘should spend around €13m’ for a player who only had one year left on his contract with the Championship side.
They add that despite what happened between them for the aforementioned midfielder, the two clubs ‘finally managed to agree’, with the amount put forward by Marseille enough to convince Watford to accept.
As revealed elsewhere, the player has already travelled to complete his medical and sign his contract, as the Ligue 1 team continue to reshape their attack, having already signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and looking to add Iliman Ndiaye to their team in the near future as well.
