Watford officials have been doing some scouting job in Portugal this weekend, as they watched Porto’s 3-0 win over Famalicão on Sunday.
Since Marco Silva’s time at the Hornets, the club are one of the most frequent visitors in the manager’s home country. They’ve already watched Porto in action for the Champions League this season and did so again.
This time, what the emissary saw was a league game, where the Dragons faced the league’s sensation Famalicão, who had been top of the table for a couple of months.
Porto ended up winning 3-0, having now taken Famalicão’s first place, and the home side’s goals were scored by Luis Diaz, Tiquinho Soares and Fabio Silva.
A Bola, who reports the scout’s visit, says that both Porto and Famalicão are interested in selling players in January. That’s good news for Watford, who need reinforcements to help their fight against relegation.
With Famalicão being so impressive at this first part of the season, perhaps there’s someone who could be a cheap and good addition to the Hornets’ squad.
Either that, or they’re thinking big and looking to use their cash to lure someone away from Porto.
