On September 14th, we covered claims from both AS and Marca, who explained Watford defender Pervis Estupiñán is expected to join Villarreal in the coming days.

AS provides a further development on this case, and states the final details of the left-back’s transfer to the La Liga club were closed late on Monday evening.

The Yellow Submarine will pay €15m to the Hornets, and offer the 22-year-old a long-term contract because the Spanish side view him as a player for the present and the future.

It’s claimed the Watford defender is ‘already in Villarreal’, and his move to Estadio de la Cerámica is ‘imminent’.

The Ecuador international has most likely arrived in the Spanish city to complete his medical checks and sign a contract with his new club.

The newspaper also states the fullback’s transfer could be announced later in the day, if there are no last minute changes or surprises.

According to the claims, Villarreal quickly want to complete the player’s signing so that he can start training under Unai Emery ‘as soon as possible’.

Villarreal take on SD Eibar in the league on Saturday, and Estupiñán could make his debut for Emery’s side.
