Last month, Watford star Yaser Asprilla’s agent Jonathan Herrera revealed that a decision has to be made on his client’s future as he’s attracted interest from several European clubs.
The forward is now expected to leave the Championship side this summer, according to multiple claims.
Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say the 20-year-old is close to becoming a Stade Rennais player.
Sierra claims Watford will receive £25m, without making it clear whether that’s including or excluding bonuses, plus a percentage of a future sale.
The Colombia international is expected to sign a four-year deal with the Ligue 1 side, with an option for another year.
Jeunes Footeux in France are also reporting about Stade Rennais’ interest in the Watford man. He managed six goals and eight assists for the Hornets last season. This convinced them to bet on him and it’s claimed all parties have now reached an agreement.
The report further adds Asprilla’s exit from Watford is ‘imminent’ as he arrived in Rennes on Thursday to carry out medical tests with Stade Rennais.
They claim the English club will earn €18m [£15.3m], which is close to £10m less than the price mentioned by Sierra, but it feels a more realistic price for the French club to pay.
