On Tuesday, it was clear that Watford were getting closer to signing Vakoun Issouf Bayo from Charleroi.

It appears the Hornets have targeted the former Celtic loanee to bolster their attack in the Championship, perhaps preparing for a big exit in the near future, and the English press were all over it.

What hadn’t filtered through, however, was the price, which is kindly given to us in Belgium on Wednesday.

According to La Nouvelle Gazette, ‘barring a very improbable U-turn’, the Ivorian will be joining Watford for a fee of €5m, which sees Charleroi make an immediate profit on their deal to buy him permanently from KAA Gent.

The 25-year-old had been loaned to the Belgian side for the second half of last season, where he scored 11 goals in 16 games, as well as picking up two assists.

This clearly caught the attention of Watford, who didn’t waste any time to swoop in and secure his services for next season.

During his time at Celtic, Bayo scored twice and picked up one assist in 17 appearances.
