French side Lyon have been in contact with the agent representing Watford’s Moussa Sissoko ahead of a possible move.

That’s what L’Equpe report today, who say that Lyon are ‘looking to strengthen’ several position this summer and have targeted the Premier League midfielder.

The newspaper reports that Lyon have ‘defined several profiles’ as they look to strengthen their squad with a new left-back, centre-back, midfielder, winger and centre-forward.

Their target for central midfield is Watford’s Sissoko, and talks have already been held about bringing him in from Vicarage Road.

The Frenchman emerged during talks over West Ham’s Issa Diop as they are represented by the same agent and a new avenue, Sissoko, was ‘discussed extensively’, as as part of those.

There is a belief he could be allowed to Vicarage Road ‘for a small fee’ as the Hornets are likely to drop back into the Championship at the end of the season.

Indeed, he has been made a ‘priority’ signing by Lyon chief Bruno Cheyrou, but his profile has not yet been ‘unanimously accepted’ by everyone at the club.

Further meetings are expected in the coming weeks, with other profiles likely to be discussed before there are further approaches for either player.

What sort of offer they can present to Watford will be determined by their league position and whether they can qualify for Europe in the final weeks of the season.
