Watford are currently eighth in the Championship table and well in contention for promotion.
The Hornets’ chances of going back up could increase in January, if they sign the right players, and the club has now been linked with a former Premier League player in Kelechi Iheanacho.
ABC in Spain have reported that with the Nigerian struggling at Sevilla, the Andalusian side informed Iheanacho’s agents back in December that they are planning to move him on in January.
Sevilla have also offered him around through intermediaries in the market, in the hope of finding a buyer. Watford are said to have made a proposal and the report indicates they have offered a six-month loan deal.
Other clubs have also made similar approaches but there are no official bids on the table yet. Iheanacho is said to be quite popular in the Championship and Sevilla remain confident that they will be able to move the forward on this month.
Watford would be encouraged by the 28-year-old’s tally of five goals in the Championship last season for Leicester City, but the Nigeria international has played only 401 minutes in La Liga this season.
There have been question marks about the player’s fitness and application and that seems to be the reason why Sevilla want to get rid of him quickly.
