Watford have made an approach for the signing of Sampdoria midfielder Morten Thorsby, according to reports from Italy.

Sky Sport claims that the Hornets made a contact for the 25-year-old ‘in the past few hours’.

The Vicarage Road side haven’t presented a bid for the player yet, as they were doing just a ‘simple evaluation’ to get to know how ‘viable’ the operation would be.

Samp News 24, who covers Sky Sports’ claims, writes that Sampdoria will think about Thorby’s future in case they get an offer of over €5m for his transfer.

Now following Watford’s approach, the Italian side are said to be ‘waiting’ to see if a bid will really arrive from the Premier League side.

Since this is the first time we get to see the Hornets linked to Thorsby, there should certainly be some more news on this chase in the Italian media pretty soon, and with Sampdoria demanding so little for the move, this is clearly a signing the English side can afford.
