Leganes are interested in Watford fullback Marc Navarro this summer, according to AS.

The Spanish newspaper claims the 23-year-old was close to signing for the La Liga club in January, but that move never came off.

That was all down to Juanfran. The 30-year-old was on loan from Deportivo La Coruña last season, and thus, Leganes couldn’t get Navarro on loan.

However, he was close to leaving for the Portland Timbers in January, which would have opened up space for Navarro to arrive. Juanfran eventually turned down the move to the MLS in favour of staying at Butarque and Navarro was left at Vicarage Road.

Leganes’ interest in Navarro did not decrease. They remain keen on signing him in this window, but it all depends on Watford.

Even if they were willing to sanction a departure, AS claims Leganes would only be looking at a ‘low-cost’ move, perhaps even a free transfer. If that couldn’t happen, they would reject the opportunity.

Navarro may need to try and force a move himself. For what it’s worth, AS believe he is keen to leave this summer.

Leganes can offer him more playing time than Watford, where he made five appearances in total last season and has Kiko Femenia ahead of him in the pecking order.

For the moment, though, this is a move that will remain in limbo until Watford decide otherwise.
