On Thursday, Voetbal België were debating whether Standard were planning on trying to extend Obbi Oulare’s loan from Watford.
Injured since December after breaking his leg in the Europa League, the forward was expected to return in time for the Belgian playoffs, but that hasn’t been the case.
According to DH, Oulare started feeling pains during the final phase of rehabilitation, providing a setback his return, and there are now doubts he’ll feature for Standard Liège again.
However, DH point out the Jupiler Pro League club’s president, Bruno Venanzi, hinted back in February, when Oulare was firmly injured, his desire to extend the loan from Watford by an extra year.
On top of that, his teammate, Sébastien Pocognoli, discussed the Hornets striker’s hard work to return to his best level, even if it ‘wasn’t easy’ and advising Oulare not to rush anything.
As he put it: “If he can help the team at the end of this season, that would be good, but, at least, he’ll be ready for next year.”
We’ll have to see what the future holds, but the signs are positive for Oulare to extend his Liège adventure by an extra year, as it seems everyone else wants him around.
Good news for Watford, who have him under contract until 2021 but have no use for him whatsoever in Javi Gracia’s setup.
