Earlier today, we covered a story from Gazzetta Dello Sport which backed up Watford’s interest in AC Milan fullback Ricardo Rodriguez.

The outlet said the Hornets want the player on a loan deal, and that might be a problem, since Milan would prefer a permanent exit.

Now there’s one more local outlet reporting the talks, and they sound a lot more positive about it. Quotidiano says Watford have been leading the race for the player after intensifying talks.

It’s claimed the Hornets could provide the minutes Rodriguez wants, and that would give him the chance of confirming his position with the national team. That has put the Premier League side ‘closer’ to his signing.

Regarding the deal with Milan, Quotidiano says there’s the possibility of a loan spell for now, with the discussion about a permanent move being left for later.

Even though there are other clubs interested in him, the report says Watford are the ‘true favourites’ for the signing, especially because Milan are looking for a quick solution.
