The lifespan of a Watford manager is never too long and it would appear Paulo Pezzolano is coming to the end of his turn.
Pezzolano had replaced Tom Cleverley, who outlasted the tenure of many Watford managers. That was quite impressive given it was his first managerial job.
Watford currently find themselves 11th out of 24 in the Championship. At the beginning of September, Gianluca Nani, who is somehow still involved in Hornets transfers, bragged about summer business.
Nani made it clear that as far as he was concerned, good business had been done and it was now down to Pezzolano to make use of it. Of course, things haven’t turned out that way.
Javi Gracia is being linked with a return to Watford, and that’s backed up in media close to where the manager is from. Noticias de Navarra report the 55-year-old is negotiating a deal with Watford.
The Basque newspaper state Gracia is travelling to London on Tuesday for talks. They don’t make it clear whether he’s arrived yet.
As far as they have it, Watford have already sacked Paulo Pezzolano.
