As you’ll be more than aware from the numerous times we’ve covered it, Watford are a club with young players out on loan all over the place at present.

The Hornets have made signing young talent from South America something of a priority, often locking them down before sending them out to Europe, mostly Spain, to get experience and, crucially, work permits.

That’s worked out to be an excellent idea for them of late, with the likes of Luis Suárez and Pervis Estupiñan both shining in Spain this season.

They are just one of several that Watford have out on loan and one whose enjoying a similar spell away is Juergen Elitim.

He initially joined Watford in 2018 from Granada, who are also owned by the Pozzo family but is yet to make an appearance for the club.

Instead, he’s spent the last two years at Spanish side Marbella FC, making 57 appearances for the club so far.

He recently sat down for an interview Balon Latina and the subject of his move to Watford came up, an experience he describes as ‘a bit of a mess’.

“When I was 18 I came to Spain to play for Granada,” he told the website.

“I spent a year in Granada and was loaned out to Marbella FC. After the season ended, I signed for Watford in England.

“Watford, at the moment, are owned by the same owners as Granada when they signed me.

“So now my record belongs to Watford, a bit complicated and a bit of a mess, but good. At the moment, I am on loan again at Marbella, and I am very happy.

“I am living a dream and achieving what I always wanted.”
