Lazio face a Tottenham Hotspur threat in their ongoing pursuit of Dinamo Zagreb’s Sergi Domínguez.
The 21-year-old graduated from Barcelona’s academy and left them for the Croatian club in July 2025.
Last month, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that Tottenham had entered the race to sign him.
This could benefit the La Liga winners, who will receive a 20% profit from his future sale. At that time, the Serie A side had held talks with the centre-back’s agent.
Tottenham could still hijack signing
Saturday’s edition of Corriere della Sera covers the latest on Lazio’s ongoing efforts and also about Spurs.
The Italian club have appointed Gennaro Gattuso as their new manager and insists on completing Sergi Domínguez’s by Monday. The operation won’t go through in the next 48 hours for multiple reasons, including Tottenham Hotspur.
Lazio will present Gattuso today and sporting director Angelo Fabiani will accompany him while president Claudio Lotito won’t be present.
Fabiani has returned to Italy from his trip to Zagreb, where he held talks with Dinamo about the Spaniard.
The negotiations are ongoing, but the Biancocelesti are facing several problems.
Why Lazio are struggling
The newspaper states: ‘Lazio’s transfer activity is limited not only by the requirement to operate on a zero-balance budget (due to failing to meet the expanded payroll cost threshold), but also by the limited funds available and the decision not to carry out a capital increase.’
The Italian club are finding it difficult to meet Dinamo Zagreb’s €15m request and are struggling to go beyond €10m plus €2m bonuses.
The parties are working to find a solution and the intermediaries involved in the operation are optimistic about the defender moving to Italy.

It’s possible Dinamo and/or the player’s camp are using Roberto De Zerbi’s side to put pressure on Lazio.
Spurs have signed Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, and let Radu Drăgușin go out on loan to Fiorentina. Their centre-back position is well covered and Domínguez could find it difficult for a prominent role if he were to join them.
