Aston Villa are a club to watch out for when it comes to Joao Felix’s future, with his emotions towards the transfer now changing.
That’s according to journalist Diego Pico, who reports that Aston Villa and Emery are very much in the race for the Portuguese forward.
Felix is set to return to Atlético Madrid this summer after his loan spell at Barcelona last season came to an end.
While he wants to remain at the Camp Nou and they would be happy to have him back, their priorities are currently focused elsewhere, particularly with finances remaining tight.
That’s left Felix sweating about his future as he’s made it clear he doesn’t want to return to Atlético or even be a part of their pre-season schedule.
Enter Aston Villa, who have been credited with a passing interest in the forward for months, often being referred to as a side on the fringes potentially waiting for their opportunity to strike.
That’s certainly been presented as the case over the last week or so, with it first reported that Unai Emery was eyeing up the chance to sign Felix before they were then presented as potentially being his only option this summer.
A report today then claimed that they had started ‘pressing’ to try and get the Portuguese star and now Pico has hinted at something going on behind the scenes too.
“Watch out with Joao Felix, because the other day they told me that maybe Aston Villa and maybe Emery (are in for him),” he told Marca.
“At first, they told me no, but things are changing, the rum-rum (emotion/feeling) is changing. Maybe Emery says yes. I’ll leave it there.”
