A star at Arsenal for a while, Alexis Sanchez then became something of a laughing stock in the Premier League following his swap with Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Manchester United.
The Chile international hugely struggled under José Mourinho with the Red Devils, and was eventually sent out on loan to Inter, where he is finally seemingly getting back to his best.
Sánchez was instrumental in the Serie A side’s win over AS Roma in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday night, as Simone Inzaghi’s side won 2-0, scoring his team’s second in the 68th minute.
After the game, Mourinho was asked about his former pupil by ESPN in South America, and the Portuguese manager explained the reasons behind his return to form in Italy.
That goal now takes his tally at Inter to 17 in 93 games as well as 22 assists, which is a far better ratio than what he managed at Manchester United, finding the back of the net just five times and providing the final pass for another nine goals in 45 games.
It’s clear that a player’s happiness is key, and Sánchez, somewhat miserable with the Red Devils during his time there, is showing that today.
