Feyenoord coach Etiënne Reijnen “wants to move to Liverpool” this summer if the Dutch club will allow it.

Journalist Mikos Gouka reports, via FR 12, that Reijnen wants the move to Anfield this summer, amid reports that Liverpool are moving to take the Dutch coach to Anfield.

Liverpool rebuilding

Liverpool are expected to undergo something of a restructuring this season following their disastrous defence of the Premier League title.

Arne Slot has already hinted as it being a transitional summer for the club, with a busy transfer window anticipated. There will also be changes behind the scenes.

Reports have indicated that current assistant manager, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, wishes to step away. He has been linked with a return to Feyenoord, with a position on their board or as a technical advisor on the table.

To replace him, Slot reportedly has his eye on his old club Feyenoord. He would like to reunite with former coach Etiënne Reijnen.

Indeed, reports in the Netherlands have indicated that there is an expectation he will move to Anfield. Robin van Persie has even been asked about the prospect.

Reports in England are now insistent that the deal is on the table and Reijnen will move to Merseyside at some point this summer.

Reijnen wants Liverpool

Gouka now provides his take on the matter. According to his information, Etiënne Reijnen wants the move if Feyenoord will allow it.

“Said Bakkati is coming. That is as good as certain. He was at De Kuip earlier this week,” he said on FC Rijnmond, regarding arrivals at Feyenoord.

“That surely wasn’t just to grab a sandwich. He is going to join the club, and—barring any surprises—René Hake will be leaving, perhaps even for Sparta.

“And Etiënne Reijnen wants to move to Liverpool, provided he receives permission to do so. In that scenario, the staff would definitely need another addition anyway.

“Because then you would essentially be missing that more experienced figure. I haven’t heard a specific name linked to that role yet, but they are actively working on it.”
