Two days ago, Corriere dello Sport reported that Unai Emery wants Aston Villa to sign Mattéo Guendouzi. It was also stated that Lazio want to keep him, and they insisted their manager, Igor Tudor, sort out the personal issues he has with the midfielder.
There were concerns over Tudor’s future at the Serie A side, but a fresh report from Corriere dello Sport says the manager is likely to stay.
This increases Guendouzi’s chances of leaving, considering he doesn’t want to work under the Croatian next season.
The 25-year-old wanted to find out about Tudor’s future, and now that the manager is likely to stay, he ‘wants to go to Aston Villa’.
Emery is in charge at Villa Park, and the Spaniard knows Guendouzi well from their time at Arsenal. In fact, it was the manager who signed him for the Gunners, and he wants to reunite with the France international at Aston Villa.
The newspaper states the Villans are likely to make an offer of around €25-30m ‘shortly’, in order to please Emery. If this were to happen, Guendouzi wants Lazio to accept Aston Villa’s proposal.
The Frenchman joined Lazio on loan from Marseille last summer, and he has no intention to play under Tudor, who was the reason for his unhappiness at the French club. The Italian side have a decision to make if Aston Villa table an offer for him.
