Chelsea were once interested in Inter Milan defender Danilo D’Ambrosio.
That’s something revealed by his twin brother, Dario, who this week spoke to LaCasadiC.
The footballer had been speaking about being ‘confused’ for Danilo sometimes, and was directly asked about Chelsea’s will to sign his twin.
“They wanted him, but he didn’t go. I’m proud of the path he’s taken,” Dario D’Ambrosio told LaCasadiC (via FC Inter 1908).
Dario didn’t make it clear when Chelsea were interested in Danilo. Since he was speaking about their early days as players, it sounds more like the Blues wanted him young.
Danilo D’Ambrosio had his youth years at Salernitana, Fiorentina, Potenza and Juve Stabia. In 2010, he joined Torino, and was sold to Inter Milan in a €3.8m deal in 2014.
Even though the defender was linked to Everton and Tottenham in the past few years, it seems Chelsea were never returned for him, despite his 266 appearances for Inter Milan.
Danilo’s brother Dario couldn’t have such a high-level career, and currently features for Serie C side Carrarese. He had played for better known Italian sides such as Lecce, Monza and Siena, but couldn’t keep up with his twin.
