Despite some hope in Italy that Lazio could still get a deal sorted to bring Hugo Lloris in on a free from Tottenham, that won’t be happening.
The news is brought to everyone by Fabrice Hawkins on Twitter, who explains that the French goalkeeper has ‘refused’ the offer from the Serie A side.
It’s revealed Lazio made a ‘final attempt’ to convince the Tottenham player to be the backup to Ivan Provedel on Wednesday morning, as they offered him a two-year contract with an option of another.
Despite this, it seems he wasn’t keen on being the number two when he clearly feels still capable of being a starter, which is why he turned them down.
As to what happens now for the Tottenham veteran, Hawkins explains the goalkeeper ‘will be open’ to any new approaches from clubs between now and the end of the transfer window.
If that doesn’t happen, he could also ‘stay’ at Spurs, where he would then either see out the remainder of his contract, which ends next summer, or, more likely, find himself a new landing spot in January, when clubs will once again have a chance of signing him.
