Leeds United’s Maximilian Wöber has been on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach since last summer and they don’t have an option or obligation to make his stay permanent.

On February 29th, we covered claims from Germany explaining that the Bundesliga side have a clear plan to retain him. It was also stated they will soon hold talks with the Whites.

Gladbach are yet to open negotiations with Leeds for the 26-year-old, if a report from Sky Sport Austria is to be believed.

The centre-back has been a regular for the German club when available for selection, making 23 appearances, managing a goal and three assists in the process.

The Leeds owned player has established himself and his performances have convinced the German club. The report states Mönchengladbach ‘want to sign him’ permanently in the summer.

A potential deal could be difficult to carry out because the defender is expensive. Sky say a fee of around €10-12m must be paid to the Championship side to buy him. Therefore, the transfer is ‘unrealistic’ as of now.

With Gladbach keen on Wöber, they will have to try and lower the price tag.
