Having returned to Manchester City last summer, Angeliño struggled to find regular minutes in the first half of the season.

Therefore, the Premier League winners allowed the left-back to join RB Leipzig on loan in the winter market.

His stay with the German club is until the end of the season and they have an option to make the transfer permanent in the summer.

Earlier reports coming out of Germany suggested the Bundesliga side are keen on retaining the 23-year-old beyond his loan spell. This has now been confirmed by Leipzig sports director Markus Krösche to SportBild.

“For [Patrik] Schick [on loan from AS Roma] and Angeliño we want to find a solution. We will not be able to afford the figure mentioned in the respective contracts,” Krösche stressed.

SportBild adds the fee agreed with City to make the Spaniard’s transfer permanent was around €22m, which needs to be triggered before June 15th.

The report further explains Pep Guardiola’s side have ‘already signalled’ their intention to allow Angeliño to leave the Etihad and his asking price could be reduced to half of what was initially agreed (€22m) upon.

It’s claimed Angeliño is a dream of Julian Nagelsmann and with City willing to do business, Leipzig now have an opportunity to secure his services on a permanent transfer.
