Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers didn’t utilise Luis Palma regularly in the first half of last season and in January, the Bhoys let him join Olympiacos on loan with an option to buy.
The Honduras international’s performances weren’t convincing enough for the Greek club to make his stay permanent, and he returned to Celtic.
Brendan Rodgers left the winger out of his plans and in the summer window, Celtic let him join Lech Poznań on loan with a purchase option.
Meczyki.pl took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report an update shared by journalist Dawid Dobrasz on the 25-year-old’s future at the Polish club.
The Celtic owned player has enjoyed a good start with Lech Poznań, scoring four times and registering three assists from 13 games. This has seen suggestions the Ekstraklasa side will make his stay permanent by exercising the €4.5m purchase clause.
According to the journalist, the clause is ‘slightly less’ than €4.5m, without mentioning the figure.
Dobrasz claims Lech Poznań are playing the waiting game to buy Palma and could exploit Celtic’s situation, likely to buy him for a price less than his buyout clause.
“The second issue is that Lech is well aware of Celtic’s financial problems. Lech will wait and maybe the situation will be similar to that with [Patrik] Walemark, where Feyenoord approached Lech themselves, and Celtic may do the same. I would be calm, if Kolejorz [Lech Poznań’s nickname] wants him, they will pay that kind of money,” he said.
Wålemark initially joined the Polish club from Feyenoord on loan in August 2024 and his stay was made permanent in January.
