Whenever clubs are relegated from the Premier League, vultures circle from other top leagues around Europe. There’s often a belief that financial disaster awaits all clubs in that position and therefore huge discounts can be obtained.
The pattern is usually the same, a club, often from Serie A, thinks they can get a relegated player for much cheaper than reasonably possible. They then try to get those deals, and become aware that clubs relegated to the Championship aren’t necessarily looking to sell their players as if it were a car boot sale.
This is what is happening now with Wilfried Gnonto and Leeds United.
InterLive say the Milan club would be in competition with Juve for the Leeds player. Whilst that doesn’t sound too outlandish, them predicting a discounted price of around €10m does.
For such an amount, Leeds would obviously be far better keeping Gnonto.
Over at Vocegiallorossa it’s reported AS Roma remain keen on keeping Diego Llorente after his loan spell with them. However, they don’t want to pay the €18m Leeds are asking for, which seems like a reasonable price.
