Manchester City defender Ruben Dias is now with the national team squad, and has attended a press conference (via O Jogo) ahead of their upcoming games.
With the 26-year-old having just won the treble with Pep Guardiola’s side, he was obviously quizzed about the incredible season he just had.
Dias commented about how intense the celebrations have been after Manchester City’s Champions League title, claiming he’s very proud of his achievements there.
“If my voice fails, understand. It is a special, unique moment, but at the same time the feeling that the season is not over,” Ruben Dias told the Portuguese media.
“Now there are two very important games for our work in the national team. Any player would love to come and represent our country in the circumstances I’m doing now.”
With Portugal playing Bosnia, Dias was asked about facing former Manchester City player Edin Dzeko once again, as they already played against each other in the Champions League final.
“Different moments. None of us were thinking about what came after the game. Much respect for the player he is. I congratulated him at the end. He was part of what we achieved at another time at the club. He’s a top-level player and will give me work.”
Portugal are facing Bosnia and Iceland in the coming days, with both games played for the Euro qualifiers.
In a season where he won three titles with Manchester City, Dias made 54 appearances for the club, with 3468 minutes on the pitch, not to mention the World Cup played during the club break.
The defender now takes part in these two international matches before he goes on his well-deserved holiday.
