Earlier today, we covered part of an interview Vítor Pereira has granted to the Portuguese press this week. Wolves are spending some of their preseason in Portugal and that’s given the manager an opportunity to speak to the local media.
Pereira made it abundantly clear he’s frustrated with transfers so far this summer, losing multiple important players from his squad and not yet bringing in replacements for those exits.
He wants to see incoming transfers in the coming days, and one of the players he may need to replace is Nélson Semedo. The 31-year-old’s contract expired at the end of June and there’s been some hope among Wolves fans that he could still sign a renewal.
As it stands though, Pereira is talking about the fullback like he’s part of Wolves history.
In a new set of quotes from the interview, O Jogo quote the manager explaining how he got his ideas through at Wolves and why his compatriot was important: “The Portuguese are very helpful in communicating and getting the message across, the idea. Nélson was a very important player. I mention him because he was the team captain and helped a lot. The others did too. And we managed to get the message across.”
Part of the earlier snippet we covered quoted Pereira saying there’s “four important players” who have left and so far not been replaced. O Jogo have those as Matheus Cunha, Rayan Aït-Nouri, Pablo Sarabia and Nélson Semedo.
Until Semedo signs a contract elsewhere there’s always the chance he could listen to his heart and hear it shouting Wolves, and maybe Pereira’s comments could help.
