Villarreal star Gerard Moreno is ‘a doubt’ for their Champions League clash with Manchester United as he nurses a hamstring injury.

That’s according to El Periodico Mediterraneo, who say the Spanish star is one of several Villarreal players looking likely to miss out.

They explain that Villarreal’s medical services are keeping an eye on two of their ‘attacking stalwarts’ in Moreno and Yeremi Pino, who are both ‘struggling with physical problems’.

That’s bad news for the Spanish side as they set to take on Real Madrid this weekend and then Manchester United in midweek.

The ‘most worrying case’ is that of Moreno, who is a ‘serious doubt’ to play at the Bernabeu as the discomfort he’s been feeling in his hamstring has not gone away.

It’s believed the problem has turned into a ‘muscular problem’, and that means he is even a doubt for the trip to Manchester United on Wednesday.

Pino is also an ‘unknown quantity’ as he continues to suffer from a ‘strong contusion’ in his right quadriceps and is ‘awaiting further developments’ on the injury.

This is all bad news for Villarreal, who are already without both Samu Chukwueze and Dani Raba for the game and now could be set to lose another two stars as well.
