Viktor Gyökeres is once again in the Portuguese media today, with not a lot happening other than the Sweden international getting increasingly angry.
In recent days, we’ve covered claims that Arsenal have frozen their efforts to sign the striker after Sporting CP asked for more than the Gunners are prepared to pay. The Premier League club were thought to be moving on tto Benjamin Sesko at RB Leipzig, but they’ve had price problems in that regard too and Bild have insisted Arsenal aren’t in concrete negotiations.
Gyökeres is on the front page of Tuesday’s edition of A Bola, with the Portuguese newspaper reporting he’s furious with Sporting for demanding €80m for him. This is the same theme that Record reported around a week ago, and that newspaper have similar today.
The gist is that Gyökeres is now even angrier.
Sporting are said to have made an approach to set up a meeting, to try and clear the air, but the player’s entourage has apparently rejected this.
When it comes to Arsenal, Record state the club are unwilling to increase their ‘first and only offer’ of €55m plus €10m in bonuses. Sporting made efforts last week to make clear that offer wasn’t official, because then they could be set for a whole new drama with Gyökeres’ agent over a commission payment if a €60m+ offer was refused.
Anyway, as it stands Arsenal don’t want to go above those figures and remain frozen.
The player is currently thought to be holidaying in Saint Tropez.
