Galatasaray vice-chairman İbrahim Hatipoğlu has revealed that his side are negotiating with Manchester United over signing a Red Devils player this summer.
The Istanbul club’s official has been speaking to the reporters on Sunday, with CNN Turk relaying his comments.
Hatipoğlu hasn’t mentioned the name of the Manchester United player they are interested in, but he claims the talks may not be easy because of the high fee requested by Erik ten Hag’s side.
“We are interested in a player from the Premier League and Manchester United,” he said.
“There is nothing more natural than the high cost of this. There are discussions regarding his transfer fee. For us, the total cost, including transfer fees and player receivables [salary], is important at the decision point.
“Once the negotiations with both the club and the player are completed, the cost becomes apparent.”
Last month, we covered claims from the Turkish press that Galatasaray are interested in signing both Scott McTominay and Aaron Wan-Bissaka in this window.
The 27-year-old Scotland international’s deal lasts until 2025, with an option for another year, while the right-back has less than 12 months left on his contract.
Haber Sarı Kırmızı have relayed more of the vice-chairman’s quotes, and he talks about the 26-year-old fullback and the midfielder.
They are trying to strengthen midfield and the right-back position with McTominay and Stade Rennais’ Guéla Doué respectively.
“Single digit figures are not discussed for right-back and midfield positions. But we allocated our right-back budget below €10m. There is no negative situation regarding Guéla Doué. Negotiations are continuing. McTominay and Doué. Wan-Bissaka is not our priority,” Hatipoğlu explained.
“McTominay’s transfer is being discussed. Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is a good player, he has many suitors, he wants to see all options.”
