Liverpool’s Joe Gomez had a verbal agreement with AC Milan, but a transfer never went through in the summer window. This was reported by Gianluca Di Marzio on deadline day, and he also said the Italian club wanted to sign him for €15-20m.

The summer disappointment doesn’t seem to have put off the Serie A side as they are still looking at the 28-year-old for January.

Journalist Niccolò Ceccarini covers the Rossoneri’s interest in the Liverpool player in his column for TuttoMercatoWeb.

He claims Milan clearly need to strengthen their heart of defence in the winter market and have the England international on their agenda.

Ceccarini reports Gomez ‘remains a viable option’ for Massimiliano Allegri’s side and adds that the Reds will have sufficient time to look for a replacement. He makes no mention of whether the defender wants to leave Liverpool for Milan in January.

Gomez’s contract expires in 2027 and he’s played 29 minutes from two games for Arne Slot’s side this season.

As well as the Liverpool man, Thomas Kristensen is also on their list for the next window, and the journalist says it would it be complicated for Milan to secure his services because of Udinese’s demands, without mentioning his price.
