Kostas Tsimikas joined AS Roma on loan from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
Initially, there was optimism regarding the transfer as he impressed in the Europa League opener against Nice.
He also started for the Rome club against Lille. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side lost the game and in a bizarre twist, missed three penalties. This impacted the result but Tsimikas’ performance has also attracted criticism.
Calciomercato.it report the Greek was ‘very poor’ and was substituted at half-time for Devyne Rensch. The Liverpool loanee made the ‘most serious’ error in the game that led to Lille’s opening goal. That goal proved to be the winner.
The performance has been described as sluggish by the outlet, as he gave the ball away for the goal. He also struggled to recover in the rest of the match.
Tsimikas is yet to get to grips with Gasperini’s system. He has come off the bench only twice in Serie A. While the Italian has trusted him in European competitions, Angelino remains the first-choice.
