Nobel Mendy

Nottingham Forest are chasing Rayo Vallecano’s Nobel Mendy ahead of the summer window.

The centre-back’s impressive performances for the La Liga side have attracted attention from Nottingham Forest and a few other clubs.

In August 2025, he joined the Spanish club from Real Betis on loan with a conditional obligation to buy.

Prior to that, Rangers and PSV Eindhoven showed keen interest, but both clubs didn’t sign him after making concrete advances.

Last month, the Real Betis man said he handled failed moves to Rangers and the Dutch club well.

He played 1,633 minutes from 23 matches for Rayo Vallecano and even scored two goals.

His La Liga stats this season are as follows:

  • Appearances: 20
  • Starts: 19
  • Total minutes played 1,532
  • Minutes per game: 77
  • Interceptions per game: 1.0
  • Tackles per game: 1.0
  • Recoveries per game: 2.9
  • Clearances per game: 6.1
  • Duels won per game: 2.8

His performances haven’t gone unnoticed and could have an opportunity to move to the City Ground after this season.

Nottingham Forest in tussle for Mendy

Seville based journalist Pepe Elías took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report on the Reds desire to sign him.

He claims Vítor Pereira’s side, Benfica and Atalanta are all ‘very interested’ to secure the Senegal international’s services.

Real Betis retain a sell-on clause in case Nobel Mendy were to make his loan stay at Rayo Vallecano permanent.

The journalist claims the Andalusian club would receive around €6-8m from his sale and shares more updates on Nottingham Forest and others for Mundo Betis.

Rayo Vallecano have to make his stay permanent for €2.4m if the defender plays at least 45 minutes in 25 matches. He’s still four short but they intend to buy Mendy because he’s attracting strong interest.

In fact, Nottingham Forest, Benfica and Atalanta are all ‘prepared to submit high offers’, without the report mentioning any figures or Rayo Vallecano’s demand.

What seems certain for now is that Mendy’s future won’t be with his current club. Real Betis will benefit from his sale as there’s a 20% sell-on clause.
