Two days ago, we carried a report from Bild explaining that Brighton & Hove Albion have shown interest in 1. FC Nürnberg star Can Uzun. The Premier League side are joined by other clubs, including Newcastle United, according to Fanatik.
The 18-year-old has been used as an attacking midfielder and a striker this season, scoring 11 goals and registering three assists from 18 games. His fine displays for the second division German club haven’t gone unnoticed.
Newcastle, Brighton, Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt are said to be keen on securing his services.
Fanatik state the Turkey U18 international has ‘received offers’ from these four clubs. The details of the proposals aren’t mentioned, butit’s explained that a fee ‘over €10m’ is being discussed to secure his services.
The versatile player’s deal lasts until 2027 and he recently admitted that he’s focused on finishing the season at Nürnberg. He also said “we’ll see” what happens after this season and this indicates a potential deal is unlikely to take shape in the winter market.
Uzun’s preference, when he decides to leave Nürnberg, is still to be determined.
The claim about Newcastle and Brighton isn’t echoed by anyone else in Turkey so far and it needs to be seen whether it’ll be backed up in Germany or England.
