During the summer transfer window, Eric Dier was perhaps rather fortunately linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
It was felt the player wasn’t in Ange Postecoglou’s key plans and therefore an exit from Spurs, where his contract ends in June of this year, was seen as a real possibility.
At the time, the German media presented it as a recommendation from Harry Kane. With the two being close from their long time together at Tottenham, Dier was also seen as someone who could help Kane settle in following his move from Spurs.
The England captain didn’t need that help, but now Dier is again being linked with Bayern Munich, this time rather strongly. Given the Bundesliga club have been looking for a player who can operate both as a defensive midfielder and a central defender, it’s believed that Dier could be an option.
Sky Deutschland state the transfer would cost less than €5m when it comes to a fee, given there’s only months left on Dier’s Tottenham contract.
There’s said to be a ‘verbal agreement’ which is ‘complete’, with the insinuation being all parties involved agree on the details of a transfer.
Thomas Tuchel is even said to have spoken to Dier, but that doesn’t mean this transfer is nailed on.
Whilst the move looks a likely scenario given the developments, Sky Deutschland make an effort to say it’s a transfer Bayern are considering and they’re also looking at other options.
