Spanish newspaper AS have pinpointed Emilio Izaguirre as Celtic’s worst player against Barcelona on Wednesday night. The Catalan club won the match 2-0 but Celtic certainly gave a good show of themselves and that’s reflected in most of the Spanish reports.

However, for their ‘Vaya Dia’ (What a day – in a bad way) section, AS pick out Izaguirre and say it was simply ‘absurd’ how he gave the penalty away. Stuart Armstrong gets special praise for remaining strong in the face of a persisitent attack.

Given that after the last time Celtic played Barcelona, the 7-0 Camp Nou loss, Mundo Deportivo said Armstrong was ‘Lunático’ and Scott Brown ‘wanted a pub fight’, we were interested to see what they’d say this time around.

Sure enough, they haven’t let us down, saying Brown ‘Lives in a loop of aggressiveness’, and they reckon he’s always the same against Barcelona.

Mikael Lustig is criticised for bad tackles on Neymar and trying to kick something off, and that’s a theme throughout several match reports.

Despite the feeling that some tackles were too tough, and Scott Brown is always looking for a scrap, the Spanish media think Celtic were ok and certainly didn’t disgrace themselves.
