It’s been a few days since we’ve had something about Rachid Ghezzal worth talking about, but like buses, when they finally get there, they all do so at once.
The right-winger only has a year left on his contract, and unless Lyon want to lose him on a free next summer, they need to either sell him now or renew his current contract.
Well, according to Le Parisien, that’s exactly what’s happening, on both fronts.
The French newspaper reports on its website the Ligue 1 club and its player are currently in talks over a new deal, with Lyon offering him £40k/week.
As well as doing that, Lyon are also negotiating with Everton over a potential transfer, with Jean-Michel Aulas wanting around €10m for his talented winger.
The problem is that Ghezzal isn’t sure moving would be the best move for his career.
The discussions with Everton are also being reported by FootMercato, an hour before Le Parisien, meaning there isn’t this much smoke without fire.
It’s all down to the player now, as we can’t see the Premier League side being too unhappy over the price.
