The name Andrey Santos will undoubtedly be one Newcastle United fans are accustomed to by now, as the club have been linked with the Brazilian for a while now.

Dubbed the new Bruno Guimaraes by some, the midfielder has caught the attention with his performances for Vasco de Gama, with clubs such as the Magpies, Barcelona and AS Roma all queuing up for him.

Previous reports have suggested Newcastle have already made offers to sign the 18-year-old, with a €20m bid rejected as the Brazilian side want around €35m.

That money has yet to arrive on Vasco de Gama’s desk, but that doesn’t mean it won’t in the future, as Eddie Howe’s side remain keen.

This comes courtesy of Super Vasco, who look at their midfielders in Yuri and Andrey, and point out how great at tackling the Newcastle target is as he ‘finished Série B as the third biggest stealer of balls’.

That’s described as a ‘huge feat for the 18-year-old boy’, who certainly is good at the defending aspect of the game, but can also produce in the final third.

In fact, he bagged himself eight goals, and was ‘second only to Raniel’ in the team’s top scorer charts.

That is why he is ‘the most valued player in the squad and is in the sights of Newcastle and Barcelona’, who will undoubtedly not want to miss out on such a talent.

Thus, the two sides are set for quite the battle for a midfielder who will be able to move to Europe immediately, seeing as he is 18.
