Manchester United continue to be linked with Orlando Gill. However, the Paraguay goalkeeper insists his full focus remains on San Lorenzo. Interest in him is growing following his World Cup performances.
Gill has seen his stock soar after starring for Paraguay in North America. Several European clubs have credited with interest over the past few weeks.
While speculation around his future continues to build, the 26-year-old has made it clear he is not letting it distract him.
As quoted by Olé, Gill said: “Offers are arriving, but until something is concrete I’m going to keep thinking about San Lorenzo.”
He then reinforced that message by adding: “I still have a contract with San Lorenzo. If nothing official happens, my head is at San Lorenzo.”
Olympiacos still the only club to make formal move
Gill’s comments come shortly after Olympiacos emerged as the first club to make a formal offer for the goalkeeper.
The Greek side’s proposal was rejected by San Lorenzo after being deemed too low. The Argentine club continue to hold out for a bigger fee. This comes after Gill’s impressive World Cup campaign.
That means clubs such as Manchester United, who were linked with the goalkeeper in recent weeks, are still watching from the sidelines. Previous reports had also linked Aston Villa and Ipswich Town with Gill. Neither is referenced in Olé’s latest update though.
More clubs join the race
According to Olé, several other European clubs have also opened talks over a possible deal, although none have yet followed Olympiacos with a formal bid.
The Argentine newspaper names Torino, Fiorentina, Feyenoord, Bayern Munich and of course Manchester United among the clubs still showing interest.
For now, though, Gill is refusing to look too far ahead. After returning from his holidays, the goalkeeper says his attention remains firmly on San Lorenzo until an offer reaches the stage where there is a genuine decision to make.
