Everton are set to have some competition to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Coventry City.
Following initial reports from the British media saying the Toffees are interested in the player, we now get to see the Swedish press backing that up.
The claims are made by Aftonbladet (via Fotboll Transfers) and it’s stated that Everton are now in a fight with the likes of Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
It’s claimed that despite the Toffees’ initial interest, the Whites and Wolves both made contact for a January move.Specifically regarding the Molineux side it’s claimed manager Julen Lopetegui is pushing for the signing.
The transfer, however, is considered ‘unlikely’ to happen in that January transfer window. Firstly, because of Coventry City’s expected change of ownership, and then due to the fact they’re currently fighting for promotion. That’s a reason for the club to keep their star for the rest of the season.
A summer sale, however, isn’t ruled out, and that shall be a reason for Everton and others to be a little more patient to get his signing.
