With Yerry Mina’s likely departure from Everton in the coming months, it’s natural to see some clubs becoming interested in his signing.
The Brazilian media recently reported that Atlético Mineiro would be keen on landing the defender, especially now that his contract with the Toffees expires at the end of the season.
So as Fala Galo managed to feature an interview with club chief Rodrigo Caetano, they asked him about a few potential signings, and one of them was the Everton player.
Rodrigo Caetano made it clear that Mina’s arrival isn’t in their plans, pointing out that even their manager may not want the Colombian player in the squad.
“The idea is always to meet these characteristics. We are not talking about his name right now, we talked at the time of Cuca, who had worked with him and likes him a lot.”
The reason for Mina’s imminent departure from Everton isn’t only his contract situation, but the little minutes he’s been having at the club lately. This season, he only made two appearances, being sidelined for months because of an ankle injury.
The defender’s physical situation has always been a problem during his time at Goodison Park, and may also be a worry for clubs interested in signing him.
