As announced today by the Brazilian national team, Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães is out of the upcoming games.
The centre-back has an injury which will leave him sidelined for the friendlies against England and Spain, with Juventus’ Bremer taking his place.
Quoted by UOL, Brazil manager Dorival Junior had a short statement on the recent changes in the squad, confirming that the Arsenal player will be left out.
“I’ve already told you that we’re working with a slightly longer list. A pre-match list, so to speak, and again today we had another casualty. Unfortunately, Gabriel Magalhães has been called up. In his place, we’re calling up Bremer, from Juventus Turin in Italy.”
On X, formerly Twitter, TNT Sports journalist Fred Caldeira claimed Magalhães has a muscle injury, even though the CBF didn’t give any more details on it.
Brazil are having their first games under Dorival Junior, who’s getting the squad prepared for the Copa America.
Most players see that as a big test to make it to the competition under the new boss, but it’s unlikely that Magalhães’ injury will harm his chances, as he’s been in great form with Arsenal and should keep his place in the national team guaranteed.
It now remains to be seen whether he’ll miss any games for Arsenal once the Premier League is back.
