Italian outlet Radio Radio today brings some interesting claims on Everton’s moves for the January transfer window.

According to their journalist Ilario Di Giovambattista, Toffees manager Carlo Ancelotti has requested the signing of Luis Alberto from Lazio.

It’s claimed that the coach ‘fell in love’ with the player, and asked Everton’s board to get in touch with the Serie A side to sign the 28-year-old midfielder.

But the move isn’t easy as it seems. Di Giovambattista says it’s quite unlikely that Lazio would accept to negotiate the player’s exit in the January window: “I tell you that Everton wants Luis Alberto. He enchanted Carlo Ancelotti, who fell completely in love… So the coach asked the English club to contact Lazio, obviously at the right time perhaps in the January window, even if I think it is impossible to negotiate with President Lotito in January. However, even this latest story involving the Spaniard could have made the delay break a bit. Undoubtedly Carlo Ancelotti would like to bring him back to England.”

Luis Alberto knows Merseyside pretty well, as he belonged to Liverpool between 2013 and 2016. He only made 12 appearances for the Reds, and had loans at Malaga and Deportivo La Coruña, before being sold to Lazio in a €4m deal.

Now with 27 goals and 44 assists in 143 matches for the Italian club, Luis Alberto seems to have found his place in Serie A. He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €50m.
