Quilindschy Hartman should be the ‘undisputed’ starter for the Netherlands after his move to Burnley.
That’s according to journalist Valentijn Driessen, via Soccer News. He’s been praising the Burnley full-back this week.
Hartman joined Burnley in a €10m deal in the summer, leaving boyhood club Feyenoord in the process. He’d come through their youth ranks, playing for the youth side, the U17s, U19s and U21s before breaking into the first team.
He left this summer after growing frustrated at a lack of playing time at the club. He had found himself out of favour under Robin van Persie as he battled back from a long-term injury.
That led to a very public falling out between the pair, something Hartman has tried to rectify since.
He’s now fully focused on Burnley, where he’s quickly established himself as a key player. In fact, they’ve even handed him set piece duties as well. Hartman has admitted he sees that as Burnley’s growing affection for him.
That affection is yet to be shared by the Netherlands, although Driessen believes that should change soon.
“He plays everything at Burnley, and has to do everything there,” he said.
“He takes the free kicks and the corners. They absolutely love him. From what I’ve seen, he’s back to the level of his peak years at Feyenoord. Then, for me, he’s the undisputed left-back of the Dutch national team.”
