On Thursday, we covered an interview that Folarin Balogun gave to the Ligue 1 website about his great start to the season on loan from Arsenal at Stade de Reims.
The young forward was brought in to replace Hugo Ekitike, who was sent on loan to Paris Saint-Germain with an almost guaranteed option to buy, and he has filled that role admirably.
He has, to date, eight goals in 14 Ligue 1 appearances for the club, and there has already been some talk of Mikel Arteta wanting to renew the player and extend the deal by another year in order for the Arsenal striker to keep getting experience at a top level.
The problem is until those discussions take place, Stade de Reims have to plan for a future without Balogun, as he is technically supposed to return to the Emirates when the deal is up.
That’s why Jeunes Footeux’s story about them looking at Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski makes sense, as the North Macedonia international has 10 goals in 14 league games for the Scottish side.
It’s stated that the ‘situation of uncertainty’ surrounding Balogun ‘forces the recruitment unit of Reims to prospect for the next transfer window’, and why they are ‘monitoring several profiles’.
Miovski is among them, and ‘in the sights’ of the Ligue 1 side in case Arsenal decide against extending the loan and recall their striker to give him a chance in their own first-team.
