Albert Carbó is currently part of Unai Emery’s backroom staff at Aston Villa, but that could change soon if claims coming out of Spain are to be believed.
According to Noticias de Gipuzkoa, Carbó is in contention to become the next Real Unión manager.
The third division Spanish club, which is owned by the Aston Villa manager, parted ways with manager Mikel Llorente on Tuesday.
Real Unión have only one win from last 10 games and this poor run has convinced them to show the exit door to Llorente.
Noticias de Gipuzkoa say Carbó, who is now ‘under the command’ of Emery at Aston Villa, is one of the possible candidates to replace Llorente.
Wednesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo has a short report on the Aston Villa backroom staff member.
It’s claimed Carbó ‘aims to be Llorente’s replacement’ at the lower division Spanish club.
In November 2023, Aston Villa announced that they have entered into a ‘collaborative partnership’ with Real Unión. The report points out and it could help the two clubs find an agreement for Carbó.
The Spaniard has managed CF Peralada and UE Olot in the past.
