Enzo Barrenechea joined Aston Villa from Juventus in the deal that took Douglas Luiz to the Bianconeri.
It has only been weeks since his arrived but the Argentine’s future could be away from Aston Villa. There’s a growing chance he could leave the Birmingham club before the end of the summer transfer window.
There is interest from an Italian side and Calciomercato report that the club in question is Lazio, with Villa boss Unai Emery said to have lost trust in the midfielder.
The Roman club want midfield options and Barrenechea is seen as a potential target who could be signed on an initial loan with an option to buy included.
The fact that some of their other options have high asking prices is encouraging Lazio to consider a move for the 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Frosinone from Juventus.
Samuel Iling-Junior is close to completing a loan move to Bologna, and Aston Villa’s deal with Juventus for Douglas Luiz looks less beneficial by the day.
