Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has revealed he’s asked for floodlights to be installed at the club’s training ground, so they can train later like teams in Europe.
RTVE have an exclusive interview with Emery today, in which he discusses various topics about the club and how he’s still changing things to aid their progression.
The Spanish boss has been the driving force behind massive changes at the club since his arrival in November 2022, transforming them into genuine Champions League contenders.
While that has been done with improved performances on the pitch it has also been backed off of it, with the club investing heavily in transfers and the structure behind the scenes.
Emery is key to the process, something Monchi and the club’s leadership have regularly insisted upon since his arrival.
Even with their success in the last few years it seems Emery is not quite happy yet, and has made a very specific request to Aston Villa regarding their next change.
“When you leave your country, everything changes,” he said.
“The food, the schedules, even the schedules they have, since here in England it is difficult to see training in the afternoons.
“In fact in this sports city there are no lights to train, something that we want to install because, especially now playing in Europe, we need to train at 5pm, at 6pm and in winter here at 3.30pm (it’s dark).”
