Aston Villa have their eyes set on Athletic Club’s Oihan Sancet for next year.
That’s at least what Fichajes.net are reporting, and their title says Unai Emery is asking Aston Villa to sign the 24-year-old.
The midfielder was promoted to the first team in 2019 and has been a regular for them in recent years. He’s been contributing goals and assists in recent years and has scored five goals from nine games this season.
Sancet’s performances have attracted interest from Aston Villa, allagedly at the request of their manager. His qualities and eye for goals have ‘captivated’ the former Sevilla boss.
The Villans are looking at the Spain international for next summer and a potential deal is ‘complex’ to carry out due to multiple reasons. The player’s contract with the Basque club lasts until 2032 and includes an €80m release clause.
This puts the La Liga side in a comfortable position if they have to negotiate his potential sale. Athletic Club don’t sell players they want to keep unless the clause is matched, which makes this a difficult task for Monchi.
