Bayern Munich’s new star Harry Kane today had a word with Sky Deutschland about his move from Tottenham Hotspur.
On Twitter, journalist Florian Plettenberg highlights one of the most important comments made by the English player, which was about his young teammate Mathys Tel.
The 18-year-old was recently racially abused on social media, and Kane came forward in support.
“It’s not acceptable. Mathys is only 18 years old. He displayed a brilliant future ahead of him against Leipzig. He is an outstanding talent. These so-called fans and such hate comments on social media are not to be tolerated.,” Harry Kane told Sky.
“We all stand behind Mathys. The team and I will be available if Mathys wants to talk about his feelings. And once again: This is unacceptable!”
Bayern Munich ended up spending more than €100m to get Kane signed from Tottenham, with the striker signing a four-year deal with the Bundesliga giants.
The striker didn’t have the desired dream start in Germany, though, as he made his debut in the Super Cup game at the weekend, which RB Leipzig won 3-0.
Kane was brought on in the 64th minute, when Bayern were already trailing 2-0, and couldn’t do a lot to reverse that situation.
The striker left Tottenham with 280 goals and 64 assists in 435 appearances for the club. In his search for his first goal for the German giants, he should now get a chance in the Bundesliga’s opening round against Werder Bremen at the weekend.
